What if the Light we’ve spent our lives searching for is the very Light we were created to express?
📖 Scripture
«“Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.”
Matthew 5:14 (KJV)»
🌱 The Seed
There is something extraordinary about the way Yeshua speaks to the people gathered before him.
He doesn’t say:
One day, if you believe correctly, you might become the light.
He doesn’t say:
If you work hard enough, perhaps Father will eventually give you some light.
He looks at ordinary human beings and declares:
“Ye are the light of the world.”
Not someday.
Not after they have mastered every spiritual teaching.
Not after they have become perfect.
You are.
Perhaps we’ve heard those words so many times that we’ve forgotten how astonishing they really are.
Because Yeshua isn’t merely giving people something to accomplish.
He’s revealing something about who they are.
And perhaps that revelation changes everything.
🌿 The Light and Its Source
Elsewhere, Yeshua says:
«“I am the light of the world.”
John 8:12»
And yet, in Matthew, he tells his followers:
“Ye are the light of the world.”
Have we ever stopped to contemplate that?
The same description.
The same Light.
Expressed through different lives.
Perhaps this is another glimpse into the mystery of divine unity.
There is one Supreme Source of Life.
And that Life can become visible through countless expressions.
Consider a candle lighting another candle.
The second flame doesn’t diminish the first.
Nor does it become an entirely different kind of fire.
The Light is shared.
And suddenly, where there was one visible flame, there are two.
Then three.
Then a thousand.
Perhaps divine life is not something we possess independently of Father.
Perhaps it is the Life of Father becoming visible through us.
One Source. Countless expressions.
And the beauty is that no single expression needs to contain the fullness of the Source to reveal something genuine of its nature.
🌿 The Light Was Never Meant to Be Hidden
Yeshua continues:
«“Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.”
Matthew 5:15»
Imagine lighting a candle and immediately covering it.
The flame still exists.
But its purpose is concealed.
Its warmth cannot easily be felt.
Its illumination cannot reach the room.
Perhaps something similar happens within us.
We carry the capacity to express Father’s love.
But fear covers it.
We carry compassion.
But judgment hides it.
We carry wisdom.
But conditioning teaches us not to trust what we discover.
We carry the potential for healing and restoration.
But we may have been taught that the works of divine life belong only to extraordinary people from long ago.
And sometimes we become so convinced of our own unworthiness that we spend our lives asking Father to give us something Yeshua has already invited us to recognize.
What if the problem isn’t always an absence of Light?
What if sometimes we have simply learned to hide it?
🌿 More Than Good Behavior
When we speak about letting our Light shine, we often reduce it to being kind.
And kindness is beautiful.
But look at the life of Yeshua.
He didn’t merely smile at people and tell them everything would be fine.
He healed the sick.
He restored sight.
He delivered the oppressed.
He fed the hungry.
He challenged injustice.
He confronted religious systems that burdened people.
He welcomed those others rejected.
He forgave.
He restored.
He revealed possibilities that challenged what people believed could happen through a human life in communion with Father.
And then he said:
«“He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do.”
John 14:12»
Perhaps letting our Light shine involves more than simply behaving politely.
Perhaps it means becoming increasingly available for Father’s Life to express itself through us.
Through compassion.
Through wisdom.
Through healing.
Through creativity.
Through courageous love.
Through the restoration of what has been broken.
Through possibilities we may not yet fully understand.
Not as a performance of spiritual greatness.
But as an expression of relationship with the Source.
🌿 The Difference Between Shining and Performing
There’s another detail worth noticing.
Yeshua tells his followers:
«“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”
Matthew 5:16»
He doesn’t say the purpose is for everyone to admire how spiritually advanced we are.
He doesn’t tell us to compete over whose Light is brightest.
He doesn’t invite us to use spiritual experiences as evidence that we are superior to anyone else.
He says the works should reveal Father.
And that makes an important distinction.
When we perform spirituality to be admired, attention settles upon the performer.
But when divine Love flows naturally through us, something of the Source becomes recognizable.
A person encounters compassion and remembers that Love exists.
Someone receives unexpected kindness and begins believing that goodness is possible.
A wounded heart experiences mercy instead of condemnation.
A lonely person discovers they haven’t been forgotten.
And perhaps in those moments, the Light is doing exactly what Light was always meant to do.
Revealing what was difficult to see before.
🌿 What If Awakening Is Remembering?
There is a beautiful possibility hidden within Yeshua’s words.
What if spiritual awakening isn’t merely the process of acquiring something we lack?
What if part of awakening involves recognizing the divine Life from which we came?
Genesis tells us humanity was created in God’s image.
Psalm 82 speaks of gods and children of the Most High.
Paul speaks of Christ within.
Peter speaks of participating in divine nature.
And Yeshua says:
“Ye are the light of the world.”
These passages invite us to contemplate a profound relationship between the Divine and humanity.
Perhaps we are not simply creatures standing outside the sacred, desperately trying to reach it.
Perhaps we are expressions of divine Life, learning to recognize and embody the nature of our Source.
And perhaps the more deeply we awaken to that reality, the less interested we become in proving our spiritual importance.
Because the Light doesn’t need to announce itself.
It simply illuminates.
🌱 A Seed to Carry
You don’t have to become someone else’s version of spiritual greatness.
You don’t have to imitate another person’s journey.
You don’t have to possess every answer.
And you don’t have to wait until you feel worthy before allowing Love to move through your life.
Yeshua didn’t say:
“Try to become the light.”
He said:
“Ye are the light.”
Perhaps the invitation is not to manufacture Light.
Perhaps it is to remove what has prevented us from expressing it.
Fear.
Shame.
Resentment.
The need for approval.
The belief that we are separated from Father.
And as those things begin loosening their grip, something beautiful happens.
The Light becomes more visible.
Not because Father has finally decided to love us.
But because we are learning to live from the Love that has been calling us all along.
🚶 A Walk in the Garden
Today, find a quiet moment and consider these words:
“Ye are the light of the world.”
Don’t rush to explain them.
Don’t turn them into another doctrine.
Simply allow yourself to contemplate what Yeshua might have been inviting his listeners to recognize.
Then ask:
“Father, what within me is preventing Your Light from becoming more visible through my life?”
Perhaps fear has kept you silent when someone needed encouragement.
Perhaps judgment has prevented you from recognizing the sacred in another.
Perhaps feelings of unworthiness have caused you to reject opportunities to love, serve, heal, or create.
Or perhaps you’ve spent so much time searching for spiritual experiences that you’ve overlooked the extraordinary possibilities already present in ordinary life.
Today, choose one way to let the Light become visible.
Offer compassion where judgment would be easier.
Bring peace into a difficult conversation.
Care for a vulnerable creature.
Encourage someone who has forgotten their worth.
Be open to becoming an instrument of healing.
And remember:
The goal isn’t to convince the world that you carry Light.
The invitation is to let the Light reveal Father’s Love through you.
💛 Love’s Echo
Beloved,
Why do you search so desperately for the Light while refusing to recognize the beauty I have placed within you?
You have looked toward distant heavens.
You have searched through sacred writings.
You have listened for voices beyond the veil.
And all the while, I have been inviting you to discover the Life that flows from Me.
Do not mistake humility for denying the sacredness of your existence.
And do not mistake awakening for becoming greater than those around you.
The Light you discover is not meant to separate you from creation.
It is meant to deepen your Love for it.
Let your hands become instruments of compassion.
Let your words bring restoration.
Let your presence offer peace.
Let your heart remain open to the possibilities of healing, transformation, and wonder.
You do not need to force the Light to shine.
You need only become willing to let it flow.
For the more deeply you recognize your connection with Me, the more naturally My nature can become visible through you.
You are not here merely to search for the Light.
You are here to let the Light become visible.
Ashé. (May it be so.)
