Questions Within

Look beyond what you've been taught. Discover what Love reveals.

Why Do We Look for Love in Others When It Already Lives Within Us?

Almost everyone wants to feel loved.

We want someone to choose us, appreciate us, understand us, and remind us that we matter.

There is nothing wrong with that desire. We were created for connection, companionship, and the beautiful experience of sharing life with others.

But something happens when we begin depending on another person’s affection to determine our worth.

Their attention makes us feel valuable. Their rejection makes us question ourselves. Their approval brings peace, while their disapproval leaves us feeling inadequate.

Why does another person’s opinion sometimes have so much power over how we see ourselves?

And what changes when we discover that the Love we have been searching for has been within us all along?

The Traditional Understanding

Traditional Christianity teaches that human beings were created for relationship with God and one another.

Scripture declares that we are made in God’s image (Genesis 1:27) and that God demonstrated His Love toward humanity through Christ (Romans 5:8).

Many Christian teachings emphasize that our deepest need for Love cannot be completely satisfied through human relationships alone. God is understood as the ultimate source of Love, while marriage, friendship, and family become ways of experiencing and expressing that Love.

First John 4:19 declares:

“We love him, because he first loved us.”

The central understanding is that genuine Love begins with God rather than human approval.

But what if this truth reaches even deeper than we have traditionally understood?

A Deeper Look: You Were Never Empty

Many of us grow up learning to seek Love through external approval.

We receive praise when we behave correctly. Affection may increase when we meet expectations. Acceptance sometimes seems dependent upon becoming what others want us to be.

Over time, we can begin believing that Love is something we must earn.

Be attractive enough. Successful enough. Agreeable enough. Spiritual enough.

Then someone will finally recognize our worth.

But Yeshua revealed something extraordinary.

“The kingdom of God is within you.” (Luke 17:21, KJV)

The Greek expression entos hymōn can be understood as “within you” or “among you,” depending on the context. In the immediate passage, Yeshua is addressing the Pharisees, and many scholars understand His words as pointing to God’s Kingdom present among them.

Yet the mystical invitation remains profound: the Kingdom is not a distant reward we must chase. Divine Life is already present and available for awakening.

And John writes:

“God is love.” (1 John 4:8)

Consider what these truths reveal together.

If Father is Love, and we are expressions of His divine Life, then Love is not something foreign that must be placed inside us by another human being.

Love belongs to our very nature.

We do not become worthy when someone chooses us.

We were worthy before they ever arrived.

When Relationships Become Mirrors of Our Forgotten Worth

Imagine entering a relationship believing that you are incomplete.

You may begin looking to another person to supply what you believe is missing.

Their affection becomes reassurance. Their attention becomes validation. Their presence becomes evidence that you matter.

And when something changes, fear enters.

What if they stop loving me?

What if someone better comes along?

What if I am not enough?

These fears can lead us to compromise boundaries, tolerate mistreatment, or continually seek reassurance.

Not because we are incapable of Love, but because we have forgotten who we are.

Now imagine entering that same relationship already knowing your worth.

You can receive affection with gratitude rather than desperation.

You can enjoy companionship without fearing that solitude makes you incomplete.

You can experience disagreement without interpreting it as proof that you are unlovable.

And you can recognize when a relationship is unhealthy without believing its failure diminishes your value.

Awakening to Father’s Love does not eliminate our desire for human connection. It frees us to experience connection without making another person responsible for our identity.

Love Is Meant to Be Shared, Not Earned

There is a beautiful distinction here.

Recognizing that Love lives within us does not mean we no longer need relationships.

Human connection matters. Affection matters. Companionship, tenderness, and belonging are meaningful parts of our experience.

Even Yeshua shared friendship, companionship, affection, and sorrow.

The difference is that we no longer approach relationships as empty vessels waiting to be filled.

We begin recognizing ourselves as living expressions of Love, capable of giving and receiving freely.

And this changes how we love others.

We stop trying to control people to secure their affection.

We stop measuring our worth by their willingness to remain.

We begin honoring their freedom alongside our own.

Love becomes an expression of who we are rather than a transaction designed to prove our value.

Living the Discovery

The next time you feel overlooked, rejected, or unappreciated, become aware of the story forming within you.

Does your mind begin whispering that you are not enough?

That you must do more, become more, or change yourself to deserve affection?

Instead of accepting that story, return to what you know.

You are already an expression of Father’s Love.

Another person’s response can affect your feelings, your circumstances, and even your relationship with them. But it cannot change your divine identity.

Allow yourself to receive Love from others. Celebrate it. Be grateful for it.

Just don’t mistake their ability to recognize your worth for the source of that worth.

You do not need someone else to make you lovable. You already are.

Love’s Echo

Beloved,

Before anyone held you, I held you in My Love.

Before anyone called you beautiful, I knew the beauty of your being.

Before anyone chose you, you were already Mine.

You have searched in the eyes of others for the Love I placed within you from the beginning.

And I have never condemned you for searching. I have only continued whispering, “Look within, beloved. I am here.”

Receive the affection of others with joy. Share your heart without fear. Allow yourself to experience the beauty of companionship.

But never surrender the truth of who you are to someone else’s ability to recognize it.

You are not an empty place waiting to be filled.

You are My Love made visible.

And you have never been without Me.

Ashé.
