Have you ever wondered why creation gives us different foods at different times of the year?
Sweet strawberries in spring.
Juicy tomatoes in summer.
Crisp apples and pumpkins in autumn.
Hearty greens and root vegetables through the colder months.
Nature has its own rhythms, and our food is part of them.
Yet today, grocery stores offer nearly everything year-round.
Convenient? Absolutely.
But perhaps there’s something beautiful we’ve overlooked by becoming disconnected from the seasons.
🌱 Creation Has a Rhythm
Every season brings different conditions for growth.
Sunlight changes.
Temperatures rise and fall.
Rainfall shifts.
Plants respond to these rhythms, producing fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds when conditions are right.
And something wonderful happens when we begin paying attention.
We rediscover variety.
Summer invites us to enjoy refreshing fruits and vegetables.
Autumn brings squash, sweet potatoes, apples, and other hearty foods.
Winter offers opportunities to enjoy warming soups, beans, greens, and stored root vegetables.
Spring welcomes tender greens and fresh new growth.
Eating seasonally doesn’t mean we must limit ourselves to only what grows nearby. Our bodies benefit from a variety of nourishing foods throughout the year.
But choosing seasonal produce when possible can reconnect us with nature’s rhythms, introduce different nutrients into our diets, and sometimes provide fresher, more affordable food.
Creation offers abundance through diversity, not endless repetition.
🌿 A Deeper Connection
There is something spiritually meaningful about living in harmony with the natural world.
A tree doesn’t struggle to produce fruit in every season.
It grows, blossoms, bears fruit, releases, and rests.
Each stage has its purpose.
Perhaps we can learn something from that.
We’ve created a world that expects constant production, constant activity, and constant availability.
But creation reminds us that life moves in cycles.
There is a time for growth.
A time for harvest.
A time for rest.
And a time for renewal.
When we become conscious of these rhythms, even something as ordinary as choosing our food can become an expression of harmony with creation.
Sometimes awakening begins by noticing the wisdom that has been growing around us all along.
🌿 A Walk in the Garden
The next time you visit a grocery store or farmers market, look for something currently in season where you live.
Perhaps an apple, a sweet potato, a winter squash, or fresh greens.
Choose something you haven’t enjoyed recently.
As you prepare it, consider the journey from seed to harvest.
Enjoy its flavor.
Appreciate its nourishment.
And remember that you are participating in the beautiful rhythms of life.
🌱 A Seed to Carry
When we learn to appreciate the seasons of creation, we may also discover greater peace with the seasons of our own lives.
💚 Love’s Echo
Beloved,
Look at the rhythms I have woven throughout creation.
The seed does not become a tree overnight.
The flower does not bloom before its time.
And the harvest arrives through seasons of growth and patient unfolding.
You, too, are part of this beautiful rhythm.
Do not measure your life by constant production.
There is wisdom in growing, beauty in giving, and purpose in resting.
Receive the gifts of each season with gratitude.
For My Love is present in every stage of your becoming.
Ashé. (May it be so.)
